How it all started
Quiraing Border Collies is owned by husband and wife team Annette Megaughin-Helder and Andrew Megaughin. In 1996 Annette got her first dog Daya as a birthday present.
She is the best gift her parenst have ever given her. Daya became her best friend and gave her the idea to start a dog training school after obtaining her Bsc in Animal Management. With Daya Annette started in obedience, herding and agility and also sheepdog trials. Annette got the idea tio breed a litter because she wanted a puppy out of Daya to continue the training and possibly start showing. In 1999 she started Quiraing. The name comes from the Gaelic language. In October 1999 the first puppies were born, of which Annette kept Ceilidh. In 2001 Annette started her dog training school in The Netherlands. In 2002 Charlie, daughter of Ceilidh, was born.
In September 2005 Annette married Andrew Megaughin and moved to Edinburgh, Scotland. The Dutch dog school was closed down in 2007 and Andrew and Annette now run Quiraing Dog School (Scotland) and AJEM Self Catering Edinburgh.
What do we do?We train our Border Collies for agility, obedience, flyball, herding and showing. We also teach obedience and general behaviour lessons and occasionally breed a litter of puppies.
